We Need Someone Who Will ACT!

Affordability

  • I will introduce legislation to raise the state minimum wage from $5.15 to at least $15.15 per hour, and close the sub-minimum wage loopholes still on the books.

  • I will introduce legislation to cap private equity ownership of single-family homes because billion-dollar firms should not be allowed to outbid families for the roof over their heads.

I will also vote to expand and improve the HCV, or Section 8, housing program, to provide more affordable housing options in District 94, and allow seniors and people with disabilities the dignity to stay in their own homes.

  • I believe your tax dollars should be used to serve you and your healthcare needs, not special corporate interests. I will vote for Georgia to finally expand Medicaid and fully fund public hospitals.

  • I will work closely with the Public Service Commission (PSC) to stand up to Georgia Power and help lower your power bills by holding data centers accountable for their energy usage and have them pay their fair share.

I will also propose legislation placing a moratorium on new data center construction until they can pass stricter environmental standards.

Civil Rights

  • As the birthplace of the Civil Rights Movement, it’s shameful that Georgia is one of only three states without comprehensive civil rights protections at the state level.

I will reintroduce the Georgia Civil Rights Act to provide comprehensive state civil rights laws protecting individuals from discrimination in housing, public accommodations, and employment, on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, familial status, or national origin.

  • I will introduce legislation calling for the repeal of Georgia’s six-week abortion ban, codifying Roe v. Wade, and protecting bodily autonomy for all Georgians to make their own healthcare decisions.

  • As an openly transgender woman, I will stand up for LGBTQ+ rights and defend marriage equality. I will stand up against the Republican attacks on transgender Georgians and call for the repeal of hate-filled laws.

  • I will call for the state government to push back against unconstitutional abuses of power by ICE, CBP, and other federal agencies. I will always stand up for my immigrant neighbors and speak out against racist and discriminatory policies.

Transportation

  • I will vote for increasing funding to MARTA to modernize and expand existing infrastructure.

I will also advocate for extending the Blue Line east from Indian Creek Station to Stone Mountain, and work with local officials to map out a plan to make this a reality.

  • I will advocate for the extension of public bus routes and their increased efficiency to get Georgians where we need to go.

  • I will advocate for new road construction to have smart street design that takes cyclist and pedestrian safety into account.

Sidewalks, crosswalks, and bike lanes should not be a luxury.
